# ARTICLE XIV — ROLEPLAY ETHICS, CONFLICT RESOLUTION, AND REPORTING

## **ARTICLE XIV — ROLEPLAY ETHICS, CONFLICT RESOLUTION, AND REPORTING**

#### **Preamble**

Euphoria RP thrives on cooperation, realism, and respect.\
This article outlines ethical standards, methods for resolving RP disputes, and proper channels for reporting FailRP, harassment, or other misconduct.\
The goal is to **maintain fairness, immersion, and a positive player experience**.

***

### **Section 14.1 — Roleplay Ethics**

#### **14.1.1 — Respect for IC and OOC Boundaries**

1. Always differentiate between IC (in-character) and OOC (out-of-character) actions.
2. Avoid using OOC knowledge for IC gain (metagaming).
3. Do not harass, exploit, or manipulate players OOC to influence IC outcomes.

**Scenario Example:**

* ✅ *Correct:* Player sees another roleplay as a gang member IC and plans an IC counter-response.
* ❌ *FailRP:* Player sees the gang member via Discord or stream and ambushes them in-game using OOC knowledge.

***

#### **14.1.2 — Fair and Immersive Interactions**

1. Avoid forcing actions or outcomes on other players (powergaming).
2. Respect realistic limitations:
   * Injury, fear, and fatigue must be roleplayed.
   * Vehicles, weapons, and combat have realistic constraints.
3. Encourage collaborative storytelling: build IC tension and drama without abuse.

**Scenario Example:**

* ✅ *Correct:* Player negotiates a hostage release using IC dialogue and strategy.
* ❌ *FailRP:* Player instantly kills all hostages without IC reason or interaction.

***

#### **14.1.3 — Consent in Roleplay**

1. Consent is required for all **sensitive RP**, including:
   * Torture
   * Extreme injury or dismemberment
   * Sexual RP (strictly prohibited if non-consensual)
2. Ensure other players clearly understand the scenario and are willing participants.

***

### **Section 14.2 — Conflict Resolution**

#### **14.2.1 — Resolving RP Conflicts**

1. Attempt to resolve disputes **IC first**:
   * Use dialogue, negotiation, or mediation through IC channels.
   * Avoid immediate escalation to violence unless justified.
2. Minor IC disputes may be handled without staff if parties agree.

**Scenario Example:**

* ✅ *Correct:* Two factions disagree on territory; leaders meet IC and negotiate terms.
* ❌ *FailRP:* Players immediately engage in combat without attempting IC resolution.

***

#### **14.2.2 — Escalating to Staff**

1. If IC resolution fails, escalate **OOC through proper reporting channels**.
2. Provide:
   * Recorded evidence (clips, screenshots)
   * Detailed description of the incident
   * IC context of the conflict
3. Staff will review and mediate fairly, considering **IC and OOC perspectives**.

***

#### **14.2.3 — Avoiding Retaliation**

1. Retaliating against those who report misconduct or participate in investigations is strictly prohibited.
2. Retaliation includes:
   * Harassment, doxxing, or OOC attacks
   * Targeting players IC without justification
3. Report any suspected retaliation to senior staff immediately.

***

### **Section 14.3 — Reporting Misconduct**

#### **14.3.1 — Reporting Channels**

1. Use official staff channels for reporting:
   * Discord tickets
   * In-game reporting commands (if available)
2. Provide clear, concise, and factual information.

#### **14.3.2 — Evidence Requirements**

1. Clips, screenshots, or logs must clearly show:
   * Rule violations or FailRP
   * Players involved
   * Time, location, and IC context
2. Ambiguous reports may not be acted upon without supporting evidence.

***

#### **14.3.3 — Staff Handling**

1. Staff will review reports **fairly and objectively**, following server rules.
2. Confidentiality is maintained; personal data is protected.
3. Staff may request additional context or follow-up from involved parties.

***

### **Section 14.4 — Encouraging Ethical Behavior**

#### **14.4.1 — Player Responsibility**

1. Players are expected to uphold:
   * Respect for others
   * Fair play
   * IC immersion
2. Avoid exploiting bugs, mechanics, or OOC knowledge to gain advantage.

#### **14.4.2 — Positive RP Contribution**

1. Encourage collaborative storytelling and creative IC scenarios.
2. Assist new players in understanding RP rules and expectations.
3. Provide constructive feedback in OOC channels to improve server culture.

***

### **Section 14.5 — Staff Mediation and Conflict Resolution**

1. **Staff Role**
   * Mediators ensure conflicts are resolved fairly, respecting IC and OOC perspectives.
   * Staff decisions may include warnings, scene corrections, or penalties.
2. **Documentation**
   * All interventions are logged to maintain accountability.
   * Evidence-based resolution prevents bias or arbitrary punishment.
3. **Escalation Hierarchy**
   * Tiered staff escalation: Moderator → Administrator → Senior Administrator → Owner.
   * Appeals must be submitted within 7 days with evidence and context.

***

#### **Closing Statement for Article XIV**
